Talk of The Town: 11|17, McKinney

Historic Downtown with its impressive architecture, ample shopping and dining, and exciting events on the east side of McKinney are no longer the only must-see locations of McKinney.   The west side is now experiencing similar growth to the rest of North Texas. This month we highlight 11|17, a new eatery located on the southeast corner of HWY 380 and Stonebridge Dr.  This inviting eatery was recently opened by McKinney residents Justin and Channa Jones.

Before moving to McKinney to open 11|17, Justin and Channa ran a cafe in Central Texas for almost 15 years, where their regular clientele became family. Justin and Channa hope to do the same here by providing fresh food, a friendly staff, a first-rate bar, and a welcoming atmosphere. North Texans will think of 11|17 as a perfect spot to connect with neighbors again and again.  With its location so close to several communities, golf cart drivers and walkers are always welcome at 11|17.  Even with a population of over 170,000 residents and growing, while here with your friends, it feels like a small town.  

Families are especially welcome at 11|17 where kids have a menu created with input from a children’s menu expert, the Jones’ 8 year-old daughter, who requested that all of her favorites from chicken strips to grilled shrimp be included. There’s even a Corn-Hole game on the patio to help when the kids are done eating, but Mom and Dad still want to visit.

11|17 cultivates the local scene by hosting wide-ranging events like Mother’s Day Margaritas, Cinco de Derby (combined Cinco de Mayo and Kentucky Derby celebrations), School Spirit Nights, and their weekly event, Wine Wednesday with 25% off all wine.

What is the significance of their name? According to Justin and Channa, the importance is two-fold.  First, 11|17 is a tribute to their children and their birthdays. Second, number 1117 is an auspicious number that embodies ‘new’ with good fortune, and a reminder to be grateful for all that the universe provides. 1117 indicates you are heading in the right direction in your life.  Click here to read more of the Jones’ story.
